Responsibility

Our Cooperative

Tradition. Trust. Community – for over 100 years

We, Milchwerke Schwaben eG, are a Bavarian-Baden-Württemberg cooperative built on a century of tradition and community. To us, our farmers are not just suppliers of the precious raw material, milk but they are also co-owners of the dairy.

Over the years, strong relationships have fostered deep trust between our farmers and our dairy. Our cooperative is founded on transparency, fairness, and sustainability, with regular farm inspections ensuring the highest standards. After all, this is where Milchwerke Schwaben products begin – and have for over 100 years.

Regionality

We know exactly where it comes from!

For our delicious yoghurt products, we use milk from our farmers in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. This is where our farmers are based, and they support us in producing high-quality dairy products.

We source our milk from family-run farms, many of which benefit from generations of knowledge and experience. This keeps traditions and values alive, shaping the future of our cooperative.

Animal welfare

More than just milk: a commitment to animal welfare.

In Germany, milk is produced to the highest standards – with strict legal requirements and regular inspections. But at Milchwerke Schwaben, we go one step further: for us, animal welfare is not an obligation, but a conviction.

Our farmers voluntarily commit to the highest standards – for example, through the QM++ supplementary module of the Q-Milch programme or Housing Type 3. These certifications guarantee not only transparency but also species-appropriate conditions in the barn. Because only happy cows produce the best milk.

Sustainability

Living up to our responsibility. Shaping the future.

For us, sustainability is not just a trend, but a conviction we put into practice. We have always focused on long-term partnerships with our milk suppliers, resource-efficient production and the continuous reduction of our carbon footprint.

We conserve valuable resources through modern technology, efficient logistics and sustainable packaging. Together with our employees and partners, we are working to shape the dairy industry of tomorrow – regionally, responsibly and with a focus on the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our yoghurt buckets have been rated as 'very good' for recyclability by the independent testing institute EKO-Punkt. The assessment was based on the official 'Minimum Standard for Assessing the Recyclability of Packaging Subject to the System According to § 21 (3) of the German Packaging Act (VerpackG)' issued by the Central Agency Packaging Register Foundation (as of 28 August 2025).

To ensure optimal recyclability, we consistently use monomaterials instead of composite materials. Our yoghurt buckets are made entirely of polypropylene (PP) – a single-type plastic that is particularly easy to recycle.

Finished your delicious yoghurt and wondering what to do with the empty bucket? Good news: our bucket is perfect for crafting – and you’ll give it a second life in the process! Whether as a plant pot, savings jar, sand bucket, or even an Advent wreath, the possibilities are endless and creative.
